Caiques are extremely playful birds that love to interact with people. When well-socialized, these highly intelligent creatures will happily go to anyone. Nurturing dominance cannot be emphasized enough, however, because if left to their own devices, caiques can become pushy, dominant and aggressive. They need plenty of chewable toys to keep their strong beaks busy.
Caiques are usually only as loud as their environment. They do have a shrill call, which some people find irritating. Single pets are much quieter than pairs.
White-bellieds run from about $750- $1,000 from a breeder, and about $1,000-$1,500 from a pet shop. Females are often slightly more expensive due to their rarity.
